Balancing Freedom of Speech is a sheet of paper meant to be a space for freedom of speech and which size is equal to the total amount of surface of advertising spaces in the city divided by the number of inhabitants. On this sheet is printed this statement “If each one of the 23,312 Dole citizens uses this paper as a space for freedom of speech and spreads it in the streets, the total amount of covered surface will be equivalent
to the total surface of advertising spaces in the city”.
Participants are invited to express themselves on this surface using coloured felt pens and paste it in the street using adhesive tape during a collective walk in the neighborhood in order to balance the presence of advertising spaces in the city of Dole with their own opinion.

L = 10,5 cm x h =14,85 cm/L = 29,7 cm x h = 42 cm (chaque).

Équilibrer la liberté d’expression est une feuille de papier destinée à être un espace d’expression libre et dont les dimensions sont égales à la surface publicitaire totale en présence dans la ville divisée par le nombre d’habitants. Sur cette feuille de papier est imprimée la phrase « Si chacun des 23 312 citoyens de Dole utilise cette feuille comme espace d’expression libre et l’affiche dans la rue, la surface totale recouverte par ces feuilles sera équivalente à la surface totale des espaces publicitaires dans la ville. ». Chaque participant est invité à investir la surface de la feuille avec des feutres puis à la coller dans la rue avec du ruban adhésif à l’occasion d’une marche collective dans le quartier, de manière à équilibrer la présence publicitaire dans la ville avec leur expression individuelle.
